Sometimes the challenge equals the reward. In years passed my experience with racing has seen this sort of saying become reality. It is in your darkest hour that you find the cure, or the speed in our case. The car that I type about is a BMW Z4 and its history is remarkable. It has won 75% or the races that it has entered and it has finished on the podium in every race except 1. It is an amazing record, possibly the greatest even by a BMW in the United States. The car is so exceptional that it has been rumored as a museum piece in BMW's Spartanburg Museum.
As I type this message she is missing.
Final preparations for the SCCA National Championship Race, "The Runoffs" to be held on September 24th at Road America in Elkhart Lake,Wisconsin led us to send "Heidi", as she is called around the shop, out for some final preparations. She was supposed to arrive on Friday and as of this writing, she has not. Not only has she not arrived, but the transport company claims that she HAS been delivered. Where she is, they do not know. Hello Monday morning!
So, in the days ahead we must find the car, bring the car back to the shop, perform final dynomometer testing to determine power, track testing, a complete re-painting and all of the race decalling. Heidi needs to be on the road to Wisconsin by Thursday. Time is slipping away and so may be another Runoffs victory....
